An annual event at Mai Khao Beach, Mai Khao Marine Turtle Release, this year was held on Saturday 27th July 2019. The sea turtles released at the 10th Mai Khao Marine Turtle Release Ceremony, turtles were hatched from eggs and collected by the Third Naval Area Command from Similan 1 Island and was nurtured and helped raise them before releasing by Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) and Sea Turtles Conservation Center, Phang Nga Naval Base. Hundreds of well-wishers, Phuket residents, guests of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa, gathered at the hotel’s beachfront and released 40 green turtles in celebration of H .M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun’s Birthday (Rama X) together.
